History

The company Lillet Frères was established in 1872 by wine merchants Paul and Raymond Lillet in Podensac, in the Bordeaux Region of France. Today every stage of production takes place at the Lillet distillery and has remained consistent throughout the years, evolving only slightly to reflect oenological advancements and technical improvements. The secret ingredients are unchanged and the original recipe is closely guarded by the cellar master, ensuring Lillet’s iconic status as the Quintessential Aperitif of Bordeaux.

Description

The wine used for the creation of Lillet Rosé is sourced from the best white wines. It is the result of the careful blending of different grape varieties.  Semillon gives it its structure and long finish, Sauvignon Blanc its freshness and aroma, and Merlot its colour and fruitiness. The "vinage" is made with fine artisanal orange liqueur crafted from the cold maceration of sweet orange peels from Spain and bitter oranges from Haiti in addition to a secret blend of forest fruit infusions. These fine liqueurs are produced in Lillet’s distillery in Podensac. A small amount of quinine from Peru is added to the final blend in the same time honored manner dating back to the early 19th century. The Rosé colour is due to the combination of macerated forest fruits and a small quantity of Merlot which completes the sensory profile of the Lillet Rosé with its classical character.
