The Italian director Federico Fellini used to say that "A good wine is like a good film: It lasts a moment and it leaves a glorious flavour in the mouth; it's new at every sip and, as it happens in films, it's born and reborn in each taster. "

And since that unforgettable December 28, 1895, when the Lumiere brothers projected workers leaving a factory, the demolition of a wall, the arrival of a train and a ship leaving the port on the big screen; the relationship between cocktails and films has been a constant.

Taste and watch will becoming almost synonymous thanks to this wonderful combination. This is how movies or series like Mad Men, Casablanca, Some Like It Hot, Sex and the City and many more, have been immortalized in the actors and in its scenes cocktails that remain in history:

1 Mad Men-2007:

This American serie is set in the 60s and was a drama production that aired in 2007. The setting is an advertising agency in New York designed by the creative director Don Draper.

The protagonist tells the story about the agency business and social customs of the United States in this decade. The serie won fifteen Emmys and four Golden Globes, also paid tribute to alcoholic beverages that continually take their characters.

His protagonist Don Draper constantly had a glass with an old fashioned jn his hand. This traditional cocktail is a sophisticated time-based drink with rye or bourbon whiskey. The drink was born in Pendennis Club in Louisville, USA Kentucky. It became popular among American presidents like Roosevelt and Truman.

2. Some Like It Hot - 1959:

This film written by Robert Thoeren and starring by Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon tells the story of the massacre of St. Valentine in Chicago in 1929. On the film Monroe sings I Wanna Be Loved By You and prepares a mixture of Manhattans.

The Manhattan has achieved great fame in Hollywood and in the thirties it represents a manly drink, famous and cosmopolitan present in gangster films, executives or conquerors.



3. Rita Hayworth- 1940:

Rita is the stage name of Margarita Carmen Cansino, a famous American actress. She was famous as a sex symbol in the 1940s with films like Charlie Chan in Egypt, Only Angels Have Wings and Gilda.

The story goes that the Margarita cocktail was created in his honor, for their beauty she bewitched a waiter in Tijuana and inspired him to create a drink by mixing traditional ingredients like triple sec, lime juice and tequila.

4. Sex in New York 1998:

A famous American television serie and film based on the book of the same name. It was first aired in 1998 with the stage in the Big Apple, to narrate the lives and loves of four friends: Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha.

Here the Cosmopolitan cocktail becomes the star of countless meetings and parties with friends. It is believed that the mixture was created in the 70's with vodka, Cointreau, lemon juice and cranberry juice.

5. Casablanca - 1942:

It is an American film directed by Michael Curtiz that tells a love story in the Moroccan city of Casablanca, a victim of war. The film starring by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman won several Oscars in 1943.

One of the film protagonist is the Champagne cocktail in a scene where Rick Blaine and Lund lsa share a drink.

It is said that this mix was created by the bartender John Dougherty in New York with sugar drops, Angostura bitters, brandy or cognac, champagne, a red cherry and lemon or orange peel.

6. Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown - 1988

It is a Spanish film directed by Pedro Almodóvar and winner of the Goya Award for best film in 1988. It tells the story of Pepa and Ivan, actors that after a long relationship decide to break up. An experience that will teach them a lot about loneliness and madness.

One of the protagonists is the Bloody Mary, the mixture created in 1920 at Harry's Bar in Paris. The waiter, Pete Petito, baptized it with that name in tribute to the actress Mary Pickford.

7. Great Lebowski- 1998:

A comic American film written and directed by the Coen brothers. The protagonist Jeffrey Lebowski, a bowler unemployed in LA who knows his namesake, a multimillionaire whose wife was kidnapped.

The film gave fame to the White Russian, being one of the favorite drinks of the protagonist who was expert in the preparation. This drink is rich in lactose and it is typical of Finland. A mix of vodka, coffee liqueur and cream.
