History

Nearly 200 years ago, John Cumming and his wife Helen settled on the farm of Cardhu. Cardhu began as a small family business. It was in 1824 when they asked for the license to develop Whisky Malt. Helen Cumming was the one who distilled the first gallon of Cardhu and would do so until the age of 90. His son Lewis took over the distillery in 1846. For the second time, a woman's hand would take over the family business: Elizabeth, wife of Lewis. Since 1872, thanks to her entrepreneurial spirit, she directed the distillery increasing its prestige.


Tasting notes
  • Light and gold coloured, with a fruity and soft background.
  • Rich and complex aroma of soft fruits such as pear, plum, pineapple and blackcurrant.
  • On the palate, full, oily and complex in nuances and textures.
  • Truffle fruit liqueur filled and chocolate covered bombon taste.
  • Complex, long, smooth, slightly dry and very rich in cocoa ending. 

Observations

Cardhu 18 is highly recommended for experts and lovers of malt whiskey.
