Cardhu Cask Reserve
Family:Whisky
Brand:Cardhu
Nearly 200 years ago, John Cumming and his wife Helen settled on the farm of Cardhu. Cardhu began as a small family business. It was in 1824 when they asked for the license to develop Whisky Malt. Helen Cumming was the one who distilled the first gallon of Cardhu and would do so until the age of 90. His son Lewis took over the distillery in 1846. For the second time, a woman's hand would take over the family business: Elizabeth, wife of Lewis. Since 1872, thanks to her entrepreneurial spirit, she directed the distillery increasing its prestige.
Tasting notes
- Deep and uniform color.
- Exceptional aroma and smoothness.
- On the palate, excellent balance between dry and sweet: hay, cedar, coconut and chocolate spread to give way to shades of wood and nutmeg.
- Final complex and balanced.
Observations
Cardhu™ Special Cask Reserve matures in oak barrels of various ages. The old wooden barrels older add richness and body to the whiskey, while the younger barrels provide fruity notes. The result from this select combination of unique flavor is a numbered limited batch edition.
