It could be said that Chartreuse is a cult liqueur and it has earned its place and respect after a long history of over 400 years. We can say that is in a high percentage of bars, but still for the mass is used in shots or as a digestive. The thing is that in the recent years and thanks to its versatility, is increasingly gaining presence in bartending worldwide competitions and in the daily work of renowned bartenders.

Chartreuse as an ingredient that join well-known spirits base brands has been part of recipes in many contests and events without being the protagonist. To give just a few examples, Erik Lorincz, World Class winner 2010, who used Green Chartreuse in his Royale Tribute cocktail. A cocktail created in honor of the royal wedding between Prince William & Kate Middleton, with Italian vermouth, syrup, maraschino, Green Chartreuse, champagne and London Gin. Meanwhile Angus Zou, representing Taiwan the same year, has participated in the final with Lorincz presenting his Martini Reviver, using vodka and Green Chartreuse.

Or closer cases as Francesco Angotti, recent winner of the III National Final (Spain) of the Bacardi Superior Legacy 2012. Ciccio used Yellow Chartreuse in his Little Wing cocktail. And another even more closer example, George Restrepo, inspired by France, presented a cocktail using Yellow Chartreuse in the G'Vine Gin Connoisseur Program 2011 with his Larmes de Charente, resulting winner of the semi final held in Barcelona.

Now it's time to have its own competition and where the Chartreuse products are the guest stars in a very relaxed challenge, simple but with the participation of great professionals. The Chartreuse Experience in Barcelona, today, was a fun event with all the condiments: a tasting and Chartreuse cocktail retrospective by Joao Eusebio, the presentation of each of the participants, laughs, jokes, seriousness, nerves, pleasant surprises and great performances.

For this 1st edition (in Madrid will be on November 26),9 bartenders took part who had the challenge of presenting the Perfect Serve of Chartreuse in Long Drink (using 2 cl of Chartreuse as minimum). The winner was chosen among the same contestants plus two brand representatives and one of the public, who scored considering the presentation and technique, originality and creativity, and taste.
